Terri and I had met at several backpacking seminars and
outdoor workshops. She was always dressed conservatively
and quite prim. She was also a dedicated backpacker and
her list of accomplishments were long. I was also an
accomplished outdoorsman and it was only natural that we
would get together for a mountain trek. We chose a very
difficult route, above the timberline, and mostly cross-
country. On the second night out we were well above the
timberline, camped among some rocks for protection from a
very chilly wind. The snow came in a blinding fury and was
totally unexpected. In our light tent and summer clothes
we were ‘in extremis’. That’s ‘trouble’. Through the night
we huddled together in our sleeping bags as the weight of
the snow caved in our tent. Next morning was bright and
clear and there was no way that we could travel in the
two-feetof new snow so we settled in to wait for the melt.
There was plenty of food and no danger so we waited.
To pass the time my prim friend became a warm, loving, sexy,
lady and by afternoon we were into each other. . .That night
I was into her body and we were into a night of passion.
That night turned into days and the snow melted so we
returned to civilization where we carried our relationship
into the city. After 10 years, we are still renewing our
passion and have long since agreed that it’s better in bed,
after the kids are asleep.
