I’ve had this friend, for three years. He is the most wonderfully sensitive man I know, and we are best friends. We were both each others’ first times. We were together for four brief months when I was 17 and he 18, but he left me after that because he was frightened. We stayed friends after that, but both of us were secretly harbouring the hope that the other liked us. We talked about it eventually, after I left for college, and we know that we love each other but now is just the wrong time for us to be togehter.
All that time we were together, I never even kissed him. The most we did was hold hands. We were so painfully shy; the first time we held hands was so intense.
I wish we had done more. I love him, and would like to make love to him. We would be each others’ first times, and I know he would be gentle with me.
I have someone now, but I won’t forget my first love.
