I’ve been with my current significant other for about eight months, which I’m aware isn’t all that long, but we’re completely crazy about eachother (Which I think matters more than a time span). I should let you know that he and I are pretty akward people…neither of us had ever been in any sort of sexual relationship before (And I mean NOTHING past first base) so we were pretty clueless about what we were “supposed” to do.
I always thought that when I decided to bang someone it would be some sort of earth shattering decision that required a lot of thought on my part; It wasn’t like that at all. I think I just got up one morning and asked myself “what am I really waiting for?”. So we talked about it, and he said something along the lines of “I love you, and you’re special enough to me that I’d want my first time to be with you”, which was sweet. Then we went to his house and did it, and it wasn’t ceremonial or anything like I thought it would be, and it didn’t hurt. It was really akward (like we knew it would be) and we were both insanely nervous, and it wasn’t good for either of us, and we laughed a lot, and it made me love him even more.
It’s been a couple of months since then, and through lots and lots and lots of practice, we’ve definately gotten the hang of it!
I read somewhere once that people usually regret their first time, mostly because they think they were too young, or they were too fast, or it was with the wrong person, and I think I waited so long because I was afraid I’d regret it too. I’m really glad I did, because I was able to find someone who I love with all my heart, and I can honestly say that I have never felt anything but happy about our decision.
