I didn’t plan my first time, but I’m happy it happened. I wanted my first time to be with someone I trusted, not someone who was going to break my heart in a few weeks or for it to happen at a drunken college party. I was eighteen years old and headed off to college in a few weeks. Just my luck, I was hanging out with my friend one day and we ran into another friend of ours. For anonymity, let’s call him Jacob. He was 17 years old and we had dated for a few months when I was in the 9th grade, but it never worked out. We were now pretty good friends and we saw each other a lot because his brother was one of my best friends. One thing led to another and we ended up going for a walk in the cemetery and kissing.
It was hot and buggy, so we decided to go to his friend’s house, for whom he was house sitting. I realized that now was as good a time was ever, I trusted him a lot and if I didn’t take this chance it may not happen for a while. So I asked him if he wanted to have sex. He said yes. He was more experienced than I, having slept with a few girls before so I let him lead me. In the past, I had basically done everything except sex, so most of it was not new to me.
The actual sex didn’t hurt all that much, but I must admit it was slightly boring. I was too nervous to let myself completely give into the pleasure, so I can’t say I enjoyed it all that much. We did have a great night and a few weeks later I went off to school. I have never regretted what I have done. It was a choice I made for myself and I know I made the right one. I still talk to Jacob, and surprisingly, it has never been awkward. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll do it again. And hopefully, it was be better than the first time.
