My aunt was separated from my uncle during the summer between my senior year in high school and my freshman year at college. She came to live with us. Part of the reason she and my uncle were splitting up was that she drank a lot and then did impulsive things. One night she had gone out with her friends and had come home late. I was in our basement family room watching tv and she came downstairs and started talking. She was really drunk and started making jokes about sex. I just sort of grinned and tried to ignore her. Then she asked me if I thought she was pretty. I told her she was because I didn’t want to hurt her feellings, but in reality she was very average looking, typical for a woman who at that time was 42 years old. Then she had a major mood swing and started crying saying my uncle told her she was ugly and would not have anything to do with her. She moved closer to me on the couch and asked me to hug her. I did and then she kissed me. I must’ve looked scared because she sort of paused and said she was sorry. She started hugging me again, then kissed me again, but didn’t stop this time. It was all a big whirl after that. I can remember thinking this was pretty fun, but what happens if my mom or dad comes downstairs (they were sleeping). At any rate, we had sex. I don’t think I was too good, but my aunt was probably too drunk to notice. Afterward, I felt a little funny because it was my aunt. The next morning I talked with her about it and told her it was my first time. She apologized saying she had too much to drink, but told me to consider it a high school graduation present. Later that summer, she and my uncle got back together and worked things out with a counselor. They’re still together today. Nothing else ever happened between my aunt and me. However, sometimes when we’re at family gatherings, she’ll still ask me about that “special graduation present” and then wink and laugh. My wife asked me about what she was talking about once, and I told her my aunt bought me a special shirt! It was lame, but it was all I could come up with.
