It makes me sad to hear about all of the “first time” stories that seem to be a hurried afterthought in the back of a car.
My girlfriend and I were both virgins, and one day we just told each other, “well, we’re gonna do it.” We waited a couple of days until her roommate was away for the weekend and used her dorm room. She put satin sheets on the two twin beds and pushed them together and lit candles all over the room.
We took it nice and slow. We started with the normal foreplay, but cut short the oral sex. We were both really ready for it. When I entered her she gave a brief yelp, and I stayed very still, asking her if she was all right. She assured me everything was fine and made a joke about her “no-man’s land of 20 years”.
Afterwards we went to order some food and got order ticket #1, which we thought was pretty great, since we were each other’s #1. We were very much in love. We wondered if everyone around us could tell that we had just “done it.” The whole world seem to have a glow. I wondered how I felt different, not being a virgin any more.
After we ate, we went back to the dorm room and did it again!
Even now, 25 years later, I look back at this moment with fondness. I wish everyone could take their time and make their first time special with someone they really care about.
